For many, starting a new blog can be overwhelming and difficult. To stand out from the crowd, you must present valuable content to your reader that has relevance to fulfill their need. There are some simple guidelines that you can follow that can maximize your hard work, and produce a following in the process. Here are 5 tips you can apply to help you achieve blogging recognition.
Tip #1: Take your blogging seriously...
Aside from creating good relevant content, it is important that you do this on a regular basis. Two or three articles a week is good for a start. However, you do not want to post if you do not have anything worth reading about. You want to engage your reader in whatever topic you are writing about. Learn to develop a level of professionalism with what you are presenting to your audience and they will think of you as an authority. Blogging solely for the purpose of being discovered will only serve to turn you reader off and do nothing for to attain personal branding.
Tip #2: Stick to blogging basics...
Until you have been in the blogging arena for a while, stick with only a few specific genres to talk about. Write about things that you have experienced, or are interested in. You do not have to be an authority on a particular subject to write about it. All you need to do, is pick a topic that is pertinent to the audience you are trying to reach, learn about it, and teach them what you have learned. This is a great way for you to put up the appearance that you are a blogging master on a given subject.
Tip #3: Don't be a blogging butterfly...
Initially, keep your blog page free of clutter. Resist the temptation to put up the entire friend me, subscribe, and vote me links all over the front page. The day will come when you will have a broad enough fan base that you can venture off into the social arena. For now, stay focused on captivating your visitors with your blogging, and not all the bangles and buttons. Remember, you caught their attention with catchy ad copy not glitz and glamour. Don't spend your time trying to design a sexy site; there will be time enough for that down the road. You will be better served building relationships, not vanity!
Tip #4: Keep your blogging page clean and simple...
Black print on a white page is easy to read and will keep your reader focused on the content. Although, it is fine to highlight text that you would like to emphasize using bold, or italicized print. Using a simple border around the page is also a nice touch and will lend a hand keeping their eye on your article. Before I put any content on my Word Press blog, I use Microsoft Word to write, edit, highlight, and border my subject matter. As you develop your skill level, and a unique blogging style, you can experiment with the text style, borders, shading, colors, and images that will give your page more eye popping appeal. For now just concentrate on developing your writing skills; the rest will come in due time.
Tip #5: Happy blogging...
This is probably the best tip of all; enjoy what you are doing. If you keep the blogging fun, it will definitely be noticed. Stay upbeat and positive as you mastermind each article you create. When a person posts a comment to your site, respond in kind with enthusiasm. Visit them back. Pay it forward with a comment on their work. Share ideas, and share material, and share your energy. And, before you know it, you will see abundant results that will reward all your efforts with huge dividends.
With all the joy that this blogger has to give you, I wish you all the success that you so richly deserve.
